Saunders Lewis Memorial Fund

The Saunders Lewis Memorial Scholarship offers up to £10,000 over two years to support individuals who want to:

• Spend time studying on the European continent in one of four fields: drama and/or film, political systems, literary connections, or the fine arts including music;
• Or undertake a study related to Saunders Lewis’s contribution to Welsh literature, theatre, or politics.

Priority is given to applicants under 35 years old, though older applicants may be considered in special circumstances.

The scholarship can be split between more than one recipient, with the average award around £4,000–£5,000 per person.

At the end of the scholarship, recipients are expected to submit material in Welsh based on their work, in a publishable format. Acceptable outputs include podcasts, performances, or written studies.
