Why are we creating a Rest Salon?

In June 2023, Black Lives in Music and Attitude is Everything published a report and podcast series called Unseen and Unheard. The report explored the barriers Black Deaf, disabled and neurodivergent professionals and music creatives face.

Rest Salon is part of our initiatives to address these barriers by creating a peer-support space where people don’t feel the need to codeswitch and mask.

What to expect

January's session is titled Simone’s Session, exploring Nina Simone’s life as a Black accomplished jazz musician who also had bipolar disorder.
