Brwydr y Bandiau 2023

A partnership between the National Eisteddfod (Maes B) and the BBC, to discover new Welsh language contemporary music talent. 

If you're between 16 and 25 and keen to be part of the Welsh music scene, why not enter the 2023 Brwydr y Bandiau competition? 

This year's closing date is 1 May and you'll find all the information and entry form on the National Eisteddfod website. 

Who can compete for Brwydr y Bandiau?

The Battle of the Bands is open to bands / artists who compose, produce and perform original contemporary popular music in Welsh. These contemporary genres include indie, electronics, urban, MOBO, pop, rock, world, contemporary folk singing and any other new contemporary musical genres that are currently emerging.

Round 1 - Include a link to a demo or video recording of a set up to 15 minutes to include between 2 – 4 Welsh language original songs 

Round 2 - The judges will choose four bands or artists to go through to the next round:

Record two songs in a live set in Clwb Ifor Bach, Cardiff and at a location to be confirmed in north Wales.

Perform a live 20 minute set of original Welsh songs (or songs with no words) on the National Eisteddfod's Llwyfan y Maes on Wednesday 9 August

Prize: £1,000, a slot at Maes B on Saturday night, 12 August, session on BBC Radio Cymru and £500 towards a music video as part of the Lŵp x PYST fund.
